Donner Lake
Donner Lake is steeped in history with many people associating the name to the Donner Party. The Donner Party was a group of American settlers that were bound for California. A snowstorm blocked their way over what is now known as Donner Pass. Some of the survivors resorted to cannabilism to survive. Of the original 87 pioneers, 39 died and 48 survived. Many second home owners like the convenience of Donner Lake, with its location close to Interstate 80 and still close to all the outdoor activities that the Lake Tahoe area has to offer.
